Kagome is a modern day girl who falls down a well at her families shrine. What she finds on the other side is remarkable: it seems she has gone back 500 years into the past! The first person she meets is a boy named InuYasha, whom mistakes her for his old love Kikyou. After he tries to kill her, and then gets a miko's necklace around his neck, Kagome tries to return to her own time.
Along the way, however, she gets kidnapped, and a crow demon flies of with the precious jewel she had in her protection, the Shikon No Tama, which can grant any wish and give any creature, human or demon, extra powers. Kagome uses the crow demons foot the shoot it with her arrow, but accidentally shatters the jewel, sending it's hundreds of pieces all over Japan. Her quest now? Collect all the Shikon Jewel fragments to make the jewel whole again, while avoiding being kidnapped or killed!
